What happens when 2 musicians fall in love and get married? Odds are slim that a couple would birth a puppet raccoon but that is exactly what happened. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, Christine had to pitch her idea to Tony first. I have this idea but it would mean using all of our savings and wedding money, she started, I would like to buy a couple puppets.. Sure, Tony would prefer to focus on being a rockstar but he loves his wife. Tony took on Christine's dream as his own. Being true artists at their core, both Christine & Tony dream big in hopes of making a difference for future generations.
Christine designed her puppets with the help of Furry Puppet's skilled puppet builders. Then, Tony painted their garden apartment's living room wall green. When Christine returned from her day job, they would shoot webisodes and vlogs (video blogs). On January 1, 2008, they launched friendlyearthfriends.com to show off Mr. Furry Fur Fur's stories. In March 2008, WGN TV Chicago found their story compelling and interviewed Tony & Christine as well as the star of the show Mr. Furry Fur Fur. Soon after that interview aired, Mr. Furry Fur Fur was invited to Party for the Planet at Brookfield Zoo where he met his first fans and friends. The very next day Christine & Tony attended Chicago's Green Festival 2008 to share their project with their community. Children and parents alike expressed enthusiasm and offered feedback in anticipation of the premiere DVD.
To get that done Christine & Tony built a talented, fun, volunteer team. Together with the same vision and passion they completed the first DVD in February 2009. This show is not being made by a large corporation but by your neighbors. If you love to buy vegetables from your farmers market, here's a chance to buy from your local media artists. You'll be happy to know that these people practice what they preach by not owning a car (they ride their bikes and use public transportation), powering their electric using 100% wind power, and recycling just about anything they can.
Now that you know how it all started, won't you be our friendly Earth friend?
